The sleeper integrated electric point machine has entered pilot operation at Armavir-Rostovsky station on the North Caucasus Railway of Russian Railways JSC.

The point machine was developed and manufactured by the Armavir Electromechanical Plant - a branch of JSC ELTEZA (a subsidiary of JSC Russian Railways, it’s also part of GC NPS) and successfully passed the required tests at the accredited signalling testing center.

The sleeper integrated electric point machine is characterized by an increased service life and high reliability, and specifically designed to improve the operational efficiency of railway lines with high freight load.

The product named SPSH-EL – is an innovative, non-trailable electric point machine, integrated into a hollow metal bar (sleeper-integrated) in block design with internal gate lock. Designed for switching into repeated-short-term mode, lock and control the position in continuous mode of the points (movable cores of the crossing bond) of centralized points with a joint stroke of the points. In this case the locking of the point switches is carried out on the body, with a locking force of 100 kn, which is twice the locking force required by Russian state standard N 32658.

The sleeper integrated electric point machine allows for mechanized tamping of the beams on the switch assembly and ensures the rigid fastening of the stock rail, which prevents the widening of the track in the first switch section. The modular design allows for maintenance work by the service method without the need for disassembly.

Thus, the economic effect is achieved by reducing the operating costs of the servicing the device itself, increasing the service life of the switch assembly due to high-quality mechanized ballast lining, as well as the absence of a switch set.
