The Signaling Testing Center has installed new moisture resistance testing equipment
At the Signaling Testing Centre of ELTEZA JSC (a subsidiary of Russian Railways, also part of the GC NPS), a new test facility has been commissioned to verify the degree of protection of equipment enclosures against water ingress.
Up to 500 liters of water may be used during a single test. The minimum flow rate is 1.3 mm/min, which corresponds to a heavy downpour, while the maximum flow rate of 10 l/min is comparable to flood conditions.
The modern equipment is installed in a specially prepared laboratory of the Testing Center and is intended for testing product samples for compliance with GOST 14254‑2015 “Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code)”. Testing at the Test Center will be conducted for floor-standing and post-mounted equipment weighing up to 500 kg and measuring up to 2.3 m in height, including impedance bonds, electric point machines, automated control system cabinets, such as computer-based interlocking and other devices.
The automated complex includes a drip chamber, a water reservoir, a water treatment system, as well as a rotating table and an oscillating arm, along with instruments for measuring water flow rate and temperature. A portable auxiliary device is also provided for rain and splash protection testing. All components of the test stand are made of corrosion‑resistant and specially treated stainless materials.

The accredited Signaling Testing Center of ELTEZA JSC has been operating since 2005. Currently, its facilities are located at the company’s branch plants in Moscow, Armavir, and Kamyshlov. During the testing process, real-world and extreme operating conditions of railway equipment are simulated. The scope of accreditation of the Signaling Testing Center includes over 700 test methods. Product samples are tested for functional safety and performance, electrical safety, dust and moisture resistance, electromagnetic compatibility, mechanical and climatic impacts, and more. The entire product line of ELTEZA and other manufacturers undergoes testing.
