Scope and field of application
A hybrid interlocking system allows to gradually upgrade signalling equipment at specific stations without substantial capital expenses while retaining the cable networks and wayside equipment in working order. RPC-EL provides the flexibility needed to implement a variety of configurations and achieve results even after partial implementation of digital technologies.
The system is designed to manage rail traffic at wayside stations of low traffic-load sections and provide for construction across multiple stations with minimal number of cables. The lifecycle costs of RPC-EL are lower than typical interlocking systems at smaller stations, while retaining the same level of safety and reliability. The proposed technology foresees a hybrid solution.
